ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Pritha Bhadra is a Singapore-based representational artist whose work explores the interplay of light, atmosphere, and memory.

Working primarily in oil, graphite, and ink, she is drawn to fleeting moments in which light transforms the familiar, revealing unexpected beauty in everyday subjects.

Born in India and raised in a town nestled in the Himalayan foothills, Bhadra developed an early appreciation for the natural world. Although she pursued a career in biotechnology and later relocated to Singapore, her longstanding interest in art eventually evolved into a dedicated studio practice.

Her work has received recognition in internationally juried art competitions, including shortlist for the ARC Salon by Art Renewal Center, and has been exhibited in Singapore, Japan, and the United States. Bhadra’s paintings and drawings are held in private collections in Singapore, United States, Europe and India.

Through her practice, she continues to explore the relationship between light, atmosphere, and the passage of time.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Much of my work begins with a moment that is easy to overlook – a change in light, a shift in atmosphere, or a brief sense that something familiar has become extraordinary.

I am drawn to these transient experiences and to the challenge of holding onto them through paint and drawing. My work is rooted in observation, and I use light as a means of exploring mood, memory, and the subtle passage of time. I am particularly interested in the space between what is seen and what is remembered, where a scene becomes less about description and more about presence.

For me, light is more than illumination. It has the ability to reveal, conceal, soften, and transform. My work reflects a desire to slow down and pay attention to the nuances that often pass unnoticed. Through light and atmosphere, I hope to encourage a slower way of looking and to create space for reflection and connection.
